Summer Organizing 2021

(500) one-on-ones of summer

Image: A meme using scenes from the film (500) Days of Summer. In the first two panels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zoey Deschanel converse in an elevator. Joseph asks Zoey "How was your weekend?" She responds contemplatively, "It was good." The text in the third panel, where Joseph Gordon-Levitt talks to a friend, reads, "She basically said she spent the weekend having organizing conversations with members of her department."

Looking to get more involved with GSU? Join us for our summer organizing project!

We’re ready to build power and a democratic vision for our union’s future this summer! To get us there, we’re setting the goal to have 500 individual organizing conversations with graduate workers in our departments this summer.

Interested in taking part in these conversations and reaching out one-on-one to your colleagues? You can train as a Departmental Organizer! We’ll be holding general organizer trainings as well as more specific conflict resolution and related trainings throughout the summer.

Upcoming Departmental Organizing Trainings:

DO Training 101: The One-on-One. Held weekly, Mondays at 5pm, before Organizing Committee meetings. Register here for Zoom info.

DO Training 201: On Navigating Conflict. Wednesday August 11, 7-8:30pm. Register here for Zoom info.

DO Training 301: Training the Trainers. We’ll be holding our first DO 301 simultaneously with DO 101 on Monday, August 2, at 5pm. Register here (at the same link for DO 101) for Zoom info.
