Northwestern University graduate workers celebrate their election victory

UChicago graduate workers will join them by voting yes on January 31st and February 1st! Sign the pledge today!

Northwestern University Graduate Workers – United Electrical Workers (NUGW-UE) won their union election today! Their union platform calls for competitive wages and professional standards in labs and classrooms.

Ally Reith, a Ph.D. student and a Vote Captain for the Learning Sciences Department, urged graduate workers at the University of Chicago to vote Yes in a couple of weeks. “When grad workers at both Northwestern and the University of Chicago start simultaneously negotiating for better wages and benefits, we’ll create a powerful dynamic pushing up competitive standards at both campuses.”

Graduate workers are raising the bar everywhere! Yale University graduate workers also voted a resounding union YES this week, winning their election 1860 to 179. Let’s get another big victory here at UChicago to raise standards for graduate workers across the country.

In solidarity,
